After falling prey to the temptation of watching Rose (*ahem* thanks, [livejournal.com profile] antiwesley :P) I can only say this:

The fandom has been waiting with baited breath since 1989 for the series to revive itself. Even though the Paul McGann telemovie attempt didn't seem to be well recieved in the US (the fact that region I dvds or VHS haven't been released shows how much faith they have in us to buy the product), the series has managed to resurface.

I didn't know what to think at first -- I love my traditional Who. I love the cheesy bubble-wrap monsters and flimsy cardboard sets. I love the endless rock quarries. I love the chilling suspense and the feeling I get every single time I watch an episode on VHS or DVD, new or old. Hearing the theme itself makes my heart skip a beat, as silly as that sounds.

Waited. Sat around last night while it downloaded. Set my alarm slightly earlier than usual so I could watch it when I woke up this morning. The dorkitude mounted when the theme was heard. I knew what was happening as the scene was being set. Every bit [episode name trunicated to prevent spoilerishness] with just enough newness and twist to keep it interesting. I jumped several times. If I had had a sofa to hide behind, I know I would have at least ducked behind a pillow or something.

CGI dustbins? No more cheesy than bubble-wrap. If Rose is anything like the rest of the new series? Bring it on, BBC. Even though I won't be able to see it on television right now, it'll be well worth the wait.

Welcome back, Doctor Who.

In other news, I have a horrendous headache and don't feel at all myself. I haven't a clue as to why I feel this badly .-. Other than lack of sleep, of course, but that's a normal thing. I just feel horrible, that's all .-.

Search for rose1.avi on the internet and you'll most likely find it as a BitTorrent file. :)
