Tough choice. I think you draw what interests you, don't worry about whether it is for adults or children. You don't have a weakness there. You lack 3-D techniques, like welding. Work on your weaknesses. You can already write and illustrate well. That's why I thought they were crazy to "reject" you for Illustration Dept., but you really didn't need that. You are taking care of your possible weakness...3-D techniques...go with that. Hope that helps. Whatever you choose will be okay, in the big picture. Good luck this year.
