stellie: (feel old)
Ms. Karrison;

Hi, I believe I've attempted to get information from you regarding the Make It With Wool competition, specifically for Virginia. I'm currently attending Virginia Commonwealth University and, though it's a great deal of work, I'm pushing to have a fibers club installed within the next month or so.

To see 'No Contest in 2005' for Virginia really shocked me. Is there not enough interest in the state? If not, I'm sure I can rustle up enough people interested in the competition for 2006. Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated -- it will be distributed throughout the Sculpture/Extended Media, Crafts and Fashion Design departments within the School of the Arts as well as whomever joins and participates in the fibers club.

If there are posters available, please let me know -- any cost for printing or postage should be easily covered if needed.

Thanks again, I eagerly await your reply :)

I am, as always

Sheep are love. (Go on. Ask me why.)

I'm hoping that my feeling about this club is right. I'm really expecting a lot out of it and the people who join. Trying to bring together all of these events is going to be a PAIN IN THE ASS though :\ Maybe Chris will help me out a bit when I'm tired beyond belief. I want to change this attitude in Virginia... this odd crux against wool as an enterprise. Even my dad thinks it's a stupid idea, that no one in their right mind would want wool. It's all about meat here.

I will do my best to change that.

EDIT:
Dear Ashley,
As of this date we have not been able to coordinate a MIYWW contest in VA. Possibly we have come at it from the wrong direction. I, and a couple of other people who thought to get one started are all shepherds,(I raise fine wool sheep and am also a weaver) and thought to have the contest at a sheep oriented event, such as the state fair, or (this weekend) the Virginia Fall Fiber Festival in Orange County.

The coordination fell apart because no one could agree where, and the 3 or so people working with me all live in different parts of the state. No one of us could handle it on our own. Even though my name has been on the national MIYWW wewbsite for 2 or more years now, I have recieved only a handful of e-mails expressing any kind of interest in the contest. This time of year is ideal for holding the contest, because it allows for our winner to be chosen shortly before the National contest.

So, if you really think you have enough interest I am willing to do my bit,( I live close to Richmond) and I think there would be one person from No VA I could count on to help.
