stellie: (fashion police)
I've managed to watch it three times so far, front to back. That's quite a bit silly, true, but I've done it. And now I'm going to spew forth random gibberish that shouldn't be read if you don't want to be spoiled. So! Tooth and Claw, away (with pictures!): Original screencaps provided by [livejournal.com profile] __kali__, that wonderful wonderful person :)

Pretty opening, really. Quite nice. Like it lots. Moving on.

Last week it was nuns with claws. This week: Kung-Fu Monks! Cut over to the Doctor and Rose, going on about somethings and others. Next hop, as it were. 1979, blahblahblah, see a concert -- the Doctor quips "What else is a TARDIS for?" and rattles off other things in '79 before walking out. "The Muppet film, I love that movie!"

You got it all wrong, Doc. It's 1879. "Same diff'rence." He introduces himself as 'Dr. James McCrimmon' -- a nice little nod to Jamie McCrimmon, a companion of the second Doctor. Speaks in a (omgyay) Scottish accent. This and that, turns out the Queen is in the little coach/procession in the middle of nowhere. With a wave of the psychic paper, they manage to tag along.

ROSE: "I bet you five quid I can make her say it [We are not amused.]."
DOCTOR: (somethingsomethingsomething) "...that'd be an abuse of my privaledge of being a traveller in time."
ROSE: "Ten quid."
DOCTOR: "Done."

Head on over to Sir Robert's place. Robert is a friend of her Majesty's late husband Prince Albert (oh, come on, where were the Prince Albert in-a-can jokes, eh?). Robert is also harboring the Kung-Fu Monks and their little secret. Don't tell anyone but it's a were-thingy.

Rose is taken to change out of her 'nakedness' and ends up a captive of the Bald Monks of Doom. Doctor knows nothing of the sort and is supping with her Majesty -- they talk of wolves and stories and such. Quite fun, really. If you're into that sort of thing.

Rose meets the actual were-thing! Of course she does, that's what happens to kidnapped companions, they get fed to wolves.

WOLFIE: "Oh, intelligence." ... "You have many questions... look inside your eyes, you've seen it too."
ROSE: "Seen what?"
WOLFIE: "The wolf, there is something of the wolf about you."
ROSE: "I don't know what you mean."
WOLFIE: "You burn like the sun but all I require is the mooooooon."

Nice. Nice little nod to the whole 'Bad Wolf' thing, here. Really good. And the moon? We've got a theme in this run, too, eh? The moon symbol on the hospital, New Earth. The whole were-thingy, yeah. Moon is a sort of theme.... Sort of. Yeah, moving on. Conspiracy! *cough*

Blahblahblah, things amiss. Blahblahblah some more, the Doctor figures things out and goes to find Rose, leaving Queenie with the baddie and such. Doc finds Rose after she's gotten everyone together in the cellar to break free from the chain on the wall and shouts "WHERE THE HELL 'AVE YOU BEEN?" to which the Doctor sort of... well, yeah, he ignores her a second and mutters an "Oh, that's beautiful!" as he takes in the fact that the little were-person is now a full-blown werewolf (silly Doctor).

Cue running. Doctor sticks around, admiring the were-thing (in-a-cancage) until it breaks free. He scrambles out and locks the door with the sonic screwdriver. The plan to toss Queenie out the window fails horribly because Monks With Guns AND Mistletoe are standing outside waiting. With guns. And mistletoe. (Is there a joke somewhere or am I just easily amused?)

ROSE: "Well, what do we do?"
DOCTOR: "We... run."
ROSE: "Is that it?"
DOCTOR: "You got any silver bullets?"
ROSE: "Not on me, no."
DOCTOR: "There we are, then. We run. Your Majesty, as a doctor, I recommend a vigorous jog. Good for the health, come on."

Blahblahblah, Doctor saves the day. Not going to tell you why, that'll spoil the fun. I don't like spoiling fun, it's rather unfun that way, don't you think?

The Doctor calls the Kung-Fu Monks "The monky-monk Monks" and I found that to be quite amusing. Another good bit?

ROSE: "Moonlight? But the wolf needs moonlight, its made by moonlight."
DOCTOR: "You're seventy-percent water but you can still drown."

And the best bit of all? (Yes, I'm going to throw the lot in.)

QUEENIE: "By the power invested in me by the Church and the State I dub thee Sir Doctor of TARDIS. By the power invested in me by the Church and the State I dub thee Dame Rose of the (Powell Estate?). You may stand."

QUEENIE: "Indeed. Then you may think on this also. That I am NOT amused."
ROSE: "Yes!"
QUEENIE: "Not remotely amused. And henceforth... [highlight to read]
I banish you."
DOCTOR: "I'm sorry?"
QUEENIE: "I have awarded you, Sir Doctor, and now you're exiled from this Empire never to return. I don't know what you are, the two of you, or where you're from but I know that you consort with stars and magic and think it fun. But your world is steeped in terror and blasphemy and death. And I will not allow it. You will leave these shores and you will reflect, I hope, on how you came to stray from all that is good and how much longer you may survive this terrible life. Now leave my world and never return."

Poor Doc. Torchwood. Blahblahend.

Next week, Sarah-Jane! :D On Earth, no less! (Rule breaker.)

Time to work on other things. I've wasted too much time on this already (what, four hours? Yes, I think so).

PS: Good graphics, nice sounds, NOT SCARY. Fuu. This was a fun romp, not scary at all -- I'd like to think I'd say the same if I were a lot younger. Then again, I've always liked big and 'scary' animals. There, too, I've always loved mice and most kids I grew up with were terrified of them (hah, I even smuggled some into school one day... come to think, mum brought a lamb after one day to pick me up from band practice -- largest guy there was dead scared of it).
