Not that I agree with such a move, but I can *kind of* understand why they'd resort to having a giveaway -- the hospital where my mom works is usually a lot lower in blood over the summer months because they can't rely on major campus blood drives to help replenish the supply. Plus people are usually on vacation or travelling and aren't as apt to donate as they are during the rest of the year.
Of course, I'd think that a "major summer shortage" type of campaign would be more effective and appropriate. Eef.
I can kinda~ understand, too. There are more people travelling, more vehicle (et cetera) accidents that require blood from blood banks. And it makes sense, sure, but... eh. That's a bold move on their part that makes them look kinda like the Peebles Department Store that I used to work for :\
